tvix_M-x100_1.3.15 zwanzig's current build

Postby zwanzig » Thu Apr 17, 2008 3:12 pm

As people are still downloading the Proof of concept for the 4100/5100 I figured i should upload the firmware I use now. It's not an alfa build or fancy in any way, more like what the POC should have been like (ssh etc. working).
It's basically the official tvix_M-x100_1.3.15.fwp with telnetd, sshd, httpd, ntpclient.
It will autosync time to GMT+1 (and 1 hour auto summer time) at every boot.
Password for root is opentvix
Also I got tired of the trumpet logo in audio playing, so I put the ipodlinux penguin there :)

Warning. This works for me, but don't hold me responsible for anything. This release should be considered experimental and should not be used by anyone who is not comfortable with possibly bricking their box. Before any upgrade, make sure you have the possibility to unbrick your unit.
tvix_M-x100_1.3.15.TZ4_080406
You might want to use attached sfv-file to compare checksum so you don't flash corrupted files to your box

I recommend you to make your own build, perhaps by modifying this. That way you'll learn something, and get ready to contribute to the community. We are ready to help you if something is unclear on how to do things. First assignment is to change the time zone to your local ;)

Thanks. tried the previous POC as well, will confirm about this.

I'm also hacking on a tvix 4100 these days, so far I can compile software using ready-built toolchains without problems, but not the curacao specific software (the online found GPL_DA-70900.tar.gz) as the linker complains: toolchain built with soft-FP while the static (closed source) libraries in sigmatel SDK are built with hard-FP.

if anyone has any clue about this, i'd be grateful to be enlightened. my interest in using the closed source sigmatel SDK is in activating the video player from a network console, possibly with an ad-hoc software player i'd like to write.

I tested and it works on my 4100, including CGI execution from boa and NTP. cheers!

I'm trying to figure out how the player gets activated, here are some ready compiled tools useful for investigation (strace, gdbserver and lsof) http://korova.dyne.org/EM86XX-reveng-tools.tar.gz
