mounting smb share on qnap nas with badeip 1.5.x

mounting smb share on qnap nas with badeip 1.5.x

Postby did94600 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:52 am

Hi,

First, sorry for my poor english...

I upgrade my tvix 7000 firmware with the badeip 1.5.x
Tvix boot ok, I can see my video stored in disk1
I see no trace of my nas share (qnap 439), smb setting is ok in setup/network. Ping say ok.
Is a trick to go on network disk ?

with official 1.3.x I have net access with left arrow of remote control, then I choose net2 (pointing on smb mount of my shared Qmultimedia) Setting are ok and I've not change anything before installing badeip firmware

I try to connect with telnet and make the mount manualyMkdir /tmp/mnt/disk1/Nas
mount -t smbfs -o username=MYUSER,password=MYPASSWORD \\192.168.1.23\Qmultimedia /tmp/mnt/disk1/Nas

but the mount log an error in messages files :
Mount smb_data not working, bad version

I think is a samba version conflict between dvico and qnap...
Is possible to solve this with a manual installation of a package (optware ipkg) ?

There is exist a true documentation of the badeip 1.5.x ? I only found a wiki, but not real doc
I search description of remote key assigment for example...or syntax of busybox command...
or how to install Optware ipkg...lots of questions....

I also read something about of a automounting function, but not understand well...
Is a function to automaticaly mounting netshare directly in root disk ? how set it ?

Thanks for yours answers
Didier

If you choose to respond me in french, I will appreciate...My english is...ummhhh

I've BadEIP_M-6x00_1.4.26_R2 successfully installed... (the 1.5.19 seems bugged for network sharing with samba or nfs)
Opentvix work on tvixip:80 ( manual install needed by ftp drop files)

And now ?

My samba network share with the qnap work as usual...
I've not time to deep testing all my video and audio files, but all seems work...

Somebody can tell me the real bonus features of this badeip firmware ? I not saw more functionality vs original firmware...
new icons, new background picture...SSH connection work, but for do what ? the opentvix work, but I don't see the goal of this...Saw pretty sysinfo with graph chart ?

Yes, it seems...
I've just want to know if I miss something...

So, Badeip exist for what ? If you say that to all people who ask question...

My question is quite simple : what's badeip firmware able to do ?
ok, I can use my tvix 7000 like before, but when I choose to test badeip firmware, I'm expected more...

You should not use smbfs, use cifs instead. I run the latest firmware and mount samba shares from my Qnap box with any issues what so ever. Here is an example of one of my mount commands
Code: Select all
/bin/mount -t cifs -o user=xxxx,ro,rsize=8192  //IP/export11 /tmp/mnt/disk1/video/net1

Regarding opentvix vs. original firmware, read the wiki. If after that it is still unclear what is the difference then I also agree that it is better to stick with original firmware. Do not fix what is not broken ;)
