since moving up to the 1.5.xx version of firmware i hve noticed recording problems. 6500a will only record from timer if the box is actually powered up ie. it won't power up and then do a recording. anyone else experienced similar problems. other than that 1.5.19 seems to be the best as far as screen quality and not blacking out.

I have a similar problem 
The 6500A is powering on but it does not record anything. Further it doesn't power off ... when powering off manually it seem to hang. In that case I have to toggle it on again in order to be able to shut it down. Seems to be an issue of the firmware file "BadEIP_M-6x00_1.5.19-Seres_unlocked+NOBDTrail_R1.fwp".

Hi,
in the meantime I found a solution for this issue.
The 6500A will do the recording properly in case you boot it in DTV mode.
