Questions on 5100sh

Hi

I just bought a used 5100sh

I want to run my own fw on it.
(So i can compile/run a dyndns service on it, etc)

Would it be best for me to try to find the 1.4.52 opentvix, or to build my own fw?

I think the forums is a mess, and the wiki is not really usable.

Are there any irc channel or something for opentvix?

I would use my old opentvix made on 1.4.52 as a base. That way you already have ssh and telnet working.
Then your first step is to unpack with tvixfw
When you start compiling dyndns for the arm you will need a toolchain and crosscompile. You should find some info about it in the wiki.

I already downloaded your 1.4.52 fwp.
and tvixfw-04..
I also set up a debian etch in a vmware, tried to decrypt the fw with sucess..
(I can mount the romfs)

(Now i'm not really sure on how to compile stuff for arm, but i have downloaded mrua_EM8620L_2.5.113.0_dev.arm.bootirq)
I'd probably need some pointers from here..

Or are there better toolchains?

Follow the steps here. You probably need to install build-essentials for your distribution. Regarding the toolchain I think I used the ipodlinux toolchain all along (that was before the sigma toolchain leaked, which should be better). Then download source for the package you want to compile (dyndns).

But I'm thinking of using the newest beta fw 1.7.15

Since i have a real amp, i can live without dts downmixing..
